Understanding your WHY

Most of us experience some sort of existential crisis at one point or another. It’s that moment when it becomes difficult to get up in the morning, and the things you used to love or enjoy don’t tick the boxes anymore. As a result, we search for more purpose in our lives.

That is when you need to find what would give more meaning to your life, in other words, what your WHY is (if you’re unsure why that is important, I recommend you Google Simon Sinek’s Ted Talk, “Start with Why.”).

So, stop for a moment, take a deep breath and follow your heart! Spend quality time with yourself and ask the big question “WHY”.

The WHAT questions to find your WHY:

The next questions can be an excellent starting point to find the answer you’re looking for:

  • What energises you?
  • What are you passionate about?
  • What are you willing to sacrifice for?
  • What makes your heart sing?

Understanding your WHY is key to your personal growth journey. It will significantly impact your life and business. Once YOUR motivations (not the ones set by society) are met, you’ll be able to live a life driven by passion.

Don’t get me wrong; answering that question isn’t necessarily easy.

Our initial reaction is either to think, “I don’t know”, or to come up with very vague answers. That is not surprising; this is a vast and metaphysical question. It goes far beyond the food-water-shelter driving factors that are clear to us.

When thinking about the answer to that question, the most important thing is to search for it with your heart, not with your head. For instance, try meditating or journaling, and don’t expect the answer to come up immediately. It might, but most of the time, it doesn’t.

We all have a WHY but most of us aren’t connected to it, simply enough, because we’ve never taken the time to reflect upon it. But, for most people, one thing is for sure: their WHY is bigger than themselves.

Once you’ve connected to your WHY, what will happen can almost be seen as miraculous.

Your life will have life a very different flavour.

Challenges become easier to overcome!

If you feel like giving up, reminding yourself WHY  you do what you do will help you get back on track.

I have a process to help my clients find their WHY when they have no idea how to go about it.

Seeing the big fat smile on their faces when we’ve worked it out is, to me, the most beautiful reward.

I found my WHY something like a decade ago.

What truly drives my life, business, and actions is a burning desire to help women become emotionally and financially free.
When they are, they always have the power of choice regardless of their circumstances.
In doing so, they become role models for more women to do the same!

That is something that totally lights me up.

I’m curious: do you know what your WHY is?
